What are Plastic Pellets Used For?

Plastic pellets are small granules from repurposed waste. These pellets are the main components in the manufacturing of most plastic products. They go through processes such as blown film machines, injection machines, and plastic molding machines. Furthermore, they undergo other processes that can produce plastic bottles, containers, bags, films, and so on.

Plastic pellets are the core material that determines the quality of the end product.

The plastic manufacturing industry is very extensive, but they all need materials in order to continue their business process. And that material is what we call plastic pellets.

The large demand for plastic indeed has an impact on the environment. Thus, we need to be aware of our use of plastic and how it recycles. Materials such as HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, and PP are recyclable.

These materials are the core products of PT. Mitra Utama Plastindo offers. We always try to be environmentally friendly while also carrying out the best materials for production processes.

What can plastic pellets be turned into?

1. Tarpaulin

Tarpaulin or tarp is a large sheet of heavy-duty waterproof cloth. They are flexible since the material is usually canvas or polyester covered with polyurethane or polyethylene. These protective sheets function as waterproof shelters, covering equipment, stores, provisions, firewood, and even fire. In Indonesia, tarps work well for covering trucks, roofs, and others.

2. Houseware

Plastic housewares are the most common things we see in our everyday lives that are the result of plastic pellets. The types of products we use are mostly plastic cups, plastic plates, plastic bowls, and plastic containers. More than that, plastic furniture such as plastic chairs, plastic baskets, and plastic bins/trash bins we all have at home.

The possibilities to create housewares from plastic pellets are endless. The types of plastic pellets to produce housewares include PET, PE, HDPE, LDPE, and PP.

3. Flooring

Plastic flooring is popular for preventing dirt buildup. They can also fend off the breeding of microbes especially in sterile areas. The plastic material enables it to act as a waterproof barrier. Plastic floorings are common for outdoor patio tiles and sports courts. Some hospitals use plastic flooring in surgery rooms to keep them sterile. Plastic pellets that are materials to plastic floorings are PVC, Polypropylene, and Polyethylene.

4. Geomembrane

geomembrane, liners, industrial liners, landfill, waste liners, liner sheet

Geomembranes are synthetic membrane liners or barriers that have a certain low absorbency. They perform with geotechnical engineering-related materials to control fluid migration structures. Moreover, geo membranes work as membrane liners for human-made systems.

Geomembranes can stabilize the earth to secure landfills to ensure the containment of hazardous waste liners. The most popular geo membranes compose of HDPE plastic pellets as they are resistant to many different solvents. Despite being less flexible than LLDPE, HDPE geo membranes offer better strength and can endure high temperatures.

If you have seen construction sites, you most likely are familiar with them. They are very useful for bound and line space.

5. Geotextile

geotextile, road construction, erosion, filtration, drainage, textile, foundation

The application of geotextile includes road construction, controlling erosion, drainage, separation, maintenance, and other protection instances. They are absorbent textiles that work well with foundations, soil, earth, rock, and so much more. Geotextiles are the result of HDPE plastic pellets processing.

Similar to geo membrane, this textile sheet leans more towards land projects. They perform well in paving, whether on regular streets or raw sites.

6. Pipe

HDPE pipes are popular for industrial purposes. This includes water supply, dredging, mining, municipal, distribution, communication, and other uses to transfer fluid and gas. They are flexible yet sturdy, weather-resistant, and impact resistant.

Pipes are outcomes of thermoplastic HDPE. Its high level of strong molecular bonds makes it suitable for high-pressure pipelines. Compared to PVC pipes, HDPE is superior for most piping applications.

There are a lot more possibilities to create from plastic pellets. PT. Mitra Utama Plastindo is keen to provide you with the best quality recycled plastic pellets for any purpose of manufacturing.
